Lake Võrtsjärv Museum and kaleboat „Paula“ are waiting
groups up to 12 people to visit Vehendi village near Lake Võrtsjärv.
Lake museum visitors are offered a presentation about
the history of Centre for Limnology and also overview of Lake Võrtsjärv
present-day’s situation. In addition it is possible to see the movie
“Võrtsjärv” made by Rein Maran or “The saga of Lake” by Kalle Mälberg.
In aquarium hall you can see Estonia’s freshwater fishes –
among them some are quite rare and protected species. It is possible to see the
representation of largest fish that has been caught in Lake Võrtsjärv in one of
the aquariums.
Certainly it will be interesting to watch pond
inhabitants through the magnifying glass and our forefather’s – Valma’s Stone Age
man brings some history fragrance.
Kaleboat awaits on the pier of Centre for Limnology.
The captain and boatswain offer you the genuine experience in its most
traditional way.
According to Your wishes the kaleboat takes the course
to Lake Võrtsjärv’s largest island – Tondisaar or to the village of Vehendi or
to the south end of the lake. In these 2 hours you can enjoy captain’s and
boatswain’s interesting stories about sailing and the kaleboats history. Smoked
bream is one of the most memorable things on this journey.
